News from Kathmandu

  • I left Pokhara and arrived to Kathmandu after a detour through Royal Chitwan National Park. Details will follow

  • Internet cafes in Kathmandu are cheaper but slower and with less features (headphones, skype, etc)

  • The August/September issue of the French magazine "Trek" is more or less dedicated to Kathmandu and Nepal. The pictures are very good and the text is extremely beautiful. Now that's good travel literature! I'm a big fan of this magazine.

  • The following issue of the French magazine "Trek" has an article about Romania. Sounds interesting, I didn't buy/read it yet.

  • I have managed to upload some pictures from the trek. Not yet finished. It's something I should have finished in Pokhara, here the success rate of any upload/post/send is 50%. Sorry, I didn't get to post the links to the blog, yet. But here they are http://www.flickr.com/veggie2go/sets

  • I'm trying to make arrangements for going to Tibet end of November. I'm leaving Kathmandu on Oct 27 for some more trekking (at most 3 weeks).

  • I have not given up updating my reports from the trek, but I couldn't sit any more in internet cafes. I realized how numb my imagination got and how dull and stereotypical they all started to sound. I promise to continue.

  • Yes, you'll notice and I know :-( All pictures taken with the long lens have this dark spot in the upper left corner. I wiped the lens repeatedly, I dusted it with the brush both ends, filters, etc. It's not going away, so I presume it's inside the lens. It is not a scratch. Will try some more.

  • I didn't add any comment/description to any of the pictures, but they are in proper order, so they can be easily linked to the text.

    Hello Veggie,

We loved your pics, made us feel like we are there with you. The colors of Nepal are exceptional and you have a done a fantastic job in capturing them. We can't wait to see more. As for the black spot on the images, try cleaning the sensor in the camera. There should instructions in the Nikon manual...just as idea.

    Thank you!
I'm happy that you enjoy the pictures. Unfortunately, over the past couple of days I could not upload one picture. I spent hours of frustration in cafes, everything failed every single time. I'm running away from the city in 2 days. I'll do my best though.
