Egypt - Appendix 3

Yes, I did fall in love with an Egyptian.

He is dark and has very beautiful eyes and delicate face features. His gaze is somewhat absent or maybe just plain sad. He looks very aristocratic and noble.

Useless. There's no future for us. He died about 2000 years ago and I don't even know his name.

But there's so much more I do not know and did not know.

I did not know that Egyptians not only created the gorgeous golden masks for the pharaohs' mummies but they also used paintings for covering the faces of the mummies. The latter during the Roman Era - in the first centuries AD.
The beauty, detail and delicacy of these paintings is stunning. Some of these could stand next to famous Impressionistic paintings in a gallery or exhibition and they would blend in perfectly. I was stunned and fascinated by those faces when I saw them in the Egyptian Museum.

And I will go back once more before leaving Cairo. To say good-bye.
